Questions, answered

Straight answers about how Bubaly works, what it costs, what the assistant may do on its own, and how your family's information is kept safe.

Getting started

What Bubaly is, who it's for, and how to set it up.

What is Bubaly?

Bubaly is an AI Family Operating System: one shared place for your family's calendar, chores, meals, groceries, school and sports, documents and more — with an assistant that does the work instead of only reminding you about it. Ask it to plan the week's dinners or set up the kids' chores, and it creates the real entries for everyone to see.

Who is Bubaly for?

Any household that shares a schedule: parents juggling school and activities, homes with grandparents under one roof, and the relatives and sitters who help out. Everyone gets a role, so each person sees what they need — and nothing they shouldn't.

How long does it take to set up?

A few minutes. Create your family, invite the people you share a home with, and bring in the calendars you already use. Chores, meals and documents can come later — nothing has to be finished on day one.

Does everyone in the family need an account?

No. Parents and other adults sign in with their own accounts, and a parent creates and manages a profile for each child. Children's chores and events still show up for the whole family, and you invite grandparents or sitters only if you want them involved.

AI Assistant

What the assistant does, when it asks first, and how you stay in charge.

Does the AI assistant actually do things, or just chat?

It takes real action. When you ask it to add an event, create chores, set a reminder, plan meals, or build a grocery list, it creates those records in your family’s database — scoped securely to your household.

Will the assistant do things without asking me?

Only the routine work you allow. In Settings → Bubaly AI every area has a dial — Recommend, Prepare or Execute — and you can turn any area down at any time. Money, health, documents and safety always wait for a parent's OK, whatever the dial says.

Can I see what the assistant did?

Yes. Every run keeps a step-by-step timeline, and work that only partly finished is reported as partly finished. Every decision the assistant makes is also written to your family's trust ledger.

Is my family's data used to train AI models?

No. Your family's data is never used to train models. The relevant details are sent to our AI provider only when you use an assistant feature, and our model-call telemetry records the task, the model, token counts and timing — never the text.

Can I switch the assistant off?

Yes. A parent or adult can switch Bubaly off in Settings → Bubaly AI: it will still answer questions, but it won't change anything for your family. You can also turn off what it remembers about your family, or set quiet hours.

Privacy & Security

How your family's information is protected, stored and controlled.

Is my family’s data private?

Yes. Every database table enforces row-level security, so no family can ever access another family’s data. Documents are stored privately and served only via short-lived signed URLs.

How is my family's data encrypted?

All data is encrypted in transit with TLS and at rest by our database and storage providers. Access to every family table is enforced by row-level security that runs in our automated tests on every change.

Does Bubaly sell or share my data with third parties?

No. We never sell, rent or share your family's data with any third party for advertising or marketing. The only sharing that happens is what you start yourself, like sharing an event or a photo with a family member.

Where is my data stored geographically?

Today your family's data is hosted in one region on infrastructure with SOC 2 and ISO 27001 reports. Choosing your own data region is planned.

Can I download or delete my family's data?

Yes. In Settings → Privacy you can download a JSON file of your family's data whenever you like. It covers the modules listed there, and the file itself names the ones it does not include yet, such as health, journal and locations. Individual items and a member's profile can be deleted in the app. To delete the whole account, tell us — a person confirms with you before anything is removed, and Bubaly never deletes a family silently.

How can I report a security concern?

Email security@bubaly.com with the details. For a vulnerability, include steps to reproduce and we'll acknowledge receipt within 24 hours.

Roles & Access

Who sees what — parents, grandparents, sitters and guests.

How do roles work?

There are six roles: Parent/Admin, Adult, Teen, Child, Caregiver, and Guest. Parents manage everything; adults manage shared household data; teens manage their own items; children complete chores; caregivers see and help with the whole household; guests view the shared calendar, lists and plans, but not locations, money, health records or other members' private messages.

Can I invite a babysitter or grandparent?

Absolutely. Invite a babysitter as a Caregiver: they see and help with the whole household, including where the children are and their health. Invite a neighbour or grandparent as a Guest: they view the shared calendar, lists and plans, and never see locations, money, health records or other members' private messages.

How many people can I add?

Family Basic and Family+ both include unlimited family members — parents, kids, grandparents and caregivers — all on one family subscription.

Can I belong to more than one family?

Yes. If another household invites you — a co-parent's home or your own parents', say — you can switch between families in the app, and each family's information stays separate.

Kids & Safety

How children and teens use Bubaly safely.

Can children use it safely?

Yes. Children get a simple view of their assigned chores and items, with large tap targets and no access to billing, settings, or other members’ private data.

Do children sign up on their own?

No. A parent or guardian creates and manages each child's profile, and children never create their own accounts. We comply with applicable children's privacy laws, including the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

How does Bubaly handle children's data?

A child's account is managed by a parent, with restricted permissions and no access to billing, settings or other members' private data. We collect the minimum needed, and a parent can review, edit or delete a child's profile and data at any time.

What can teens do?

Teens manage their own tasks, activities and calendar. When the assistant acts on a teen's behalf, a parent reviews it first.

Can kids earn rewards for chores?

Yes. Assign chores, let kids tick them off, and approve them when they're done — a recurring chore comes back on its own once you approve it. Rewards let kids earn for the work they do.

Calendars & imports

Connecting the calendars you use and bringing over what you already have.

Does Bubaly work with my Google, Apple or Outlook calendar?

Yes. Connect Google Calendar for two-way sync, so a change made in either place shows up in both. Apple iCloud and Outlook calendars come in through their published calendar link, and Bubaly refreshes subscribed calendars every night.

Can I add my kids' school or team calendar?

Yes. Paste the calendar link from Schoology, Google Classroom, Canvas, TeamSnap or any service that offers an ICS or webcal link, and its events join your family calendar. Only have a paper flyer? Snap a photo, upload a PDF or share a screenshot, and Bubaly turns it into the events and reminders it describes.

I already use another family app. Can I bring my things over?

Yes. Export from Cozi, FamilyWall, OurHome, Google Calendar or Apple Calendar and upload the files — .ics calendars, .csv lists and .vcf contact cards. They come across as events, tasks and chores, grocery items, notes and contacts. The files are read in your browser; only the results are saved to your family.

Plans & Pricing

The free trial, the two plans, billing and cancelling.

What does it cost?

There are two plans, Family Basic and Family+, and every family starts with a 5-day trial of Family Basic — no credit card required. Pay monthly, or yearly and save up to 17%. Current prices are on the Pricing page.

What happens when the free trial ends?

Nothing is charged — we never asked for a card. Your account locks until you choose Family Basic or Family+, and everything you added is there when you unlock it.

What's the difference between Family Basic and Family+?

Family Basic runs the everyday household: shared calendars and lists, meal and grocery planning, Kitchen Mode, smart imports from flyers and screenshots, and unlimited use of the AI assistant. Family+ adds the planning layer on top — daily and weekly family briefings, the Family Command Center, the sports assistant and the Family Digital Twin. The Pricing page lists every feature by plan.

Do I pay per person?

No. One subscription covers your whole family, with unlimited members on both plans.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Change or cancel your plan in the app at any time. A cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period and you keep paid features until then; switching plans is prorated. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable.

Mobile & Alerts

Phones, tablets, the kitchen display and reminders.

Is there a mobile app?

Bubaly runs on any iPhone, iPad or Android phone or tablet. Add it to your home screen from the browser and it opens full-screen, just like an app — and screens you've viewed recently stay readable when you lose signal.

How do notifications work?

In the app, by push notification and by email. Bubaly reminds people about calendar events, chores, school and sports, medications, expiring documents, renewals, and approvals waiting for a parent. Each person chooses whether they get push and email, and parents decide for their children.

Can I stop notifications at night?

Yes. Set a quiet-hours window for your family in Settings → Bubaly AI, and Bubaly holds notifications raised in that window until it ends. Anything urgent, like a safety alert, still comes through, and a reminder you asked for at a specific time still arrives on time.

Can I put Bubaly on the kitchen counter?

Yes. Kitchen Mode turns any iPad or Android tablet into a shared family display with schedule, chores, meals, groceries, timers and photos. It's included with Family Basic and Family+ — no extra hardware needed.

Which languages does Bubaly speak?

Bubaly is available in English, Deutsch, Español, Français, Italiano, Nederlands and Português. It follows your browser's language, you can switch at any time from the language menu, and dates, times and numbers follow your region's format.

Is Bubaly better than a to-do list app for family wellness?

A to-do list app can track family wellness, but it can't act on it, remind the right person, or connect to the rest of your family's life. Bubaly is the AI Family Operating System: family wellness lives alongside your calendar, chores, meals, money, and documents, and an AI assistant takes real action so nothing sits in one person's head.
